So I always wanted to create a blog for Star Wars The Old Republic.
And especially leveling in SWTOR.
It's still a new game and because of that a lot of you are still not really sure about how all the stuff works.
This guide will hopefully help you and everyone else who just started leveling in SWTOR.
And I want to get more visitor than my buddy who also has a SWTOR Leveling Guide.

So let’s start from scratch.
After you started SWTOR for the first time you will need to make a decission if you want to play for the Republic or The Empire.
It won't affect how you play the game but only the story and looks.
After you’ve made up your mind about which side you want to fight for it’s time to pick a class.

There’s 4 choices you can make here. I’ll post a more thorough overview of the classes in another post. It’s just important for now to know that there’s 4 roles which are, caster dps,
melee dps, tank and healer. I’m confident most of you know enough about these roles so I won’t got into detail.
I don’t feel leveling is harder or easier for any of thsoe roles. It just lets you play differently. DPS kill faster but can't deal very well with a lot of enemies at the same time. Tanks kill not as fast but can take on many mobs simultaneously.
The same is true for healers.

Once you’ve chosen the side you want to fight for and your class you're ready to start leveling. It depends which faction you picked you’ll start on one out of 4 starting zones.
Questing is linear. Just get the starter quests and go from there. SWTOR is pretty straightforward in terms of leveling and it will be easy to find out where to go next.
Once you reach level 12-13 you can go into dungeons or Flashpoints, as they’re called in SWTOR.
These are zones in the game only you and your group have access to. It’s always a good idea to start doing these while you level so you can get access to better gear which in turn makes
questing easier.

At a certain point you’ll want to pick up some professions. Or crew skills in SWTOR. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you.
You’ll get 5 companions along the way who will help you. These ‘friends’ will kill for you, craft items for you and gather for you. Unfortunately they won’t do your homework.
Like I said these companions will be the ones who will make items for you. There are many different options in SWTOR when it comes to crew skills. You can get gathering, crafting and mission skills.
In the next post I’ll do a complete guide on how they work. When you're questing you’ll come across alot of items and with gathering professions you can increase your credits a bit.
Later on you can always change this. Don't forget to check out my friends blog here. He already talked about crew skills.

As in other MMO's there are also pvp area's in SWTOR. Where else would we go to show off our gear and skills?
When you level up you'll be able to join more of these zones.
You'll start out with a football clone called Huttball.

At levle 50, which is the cap right now, you’ll be able to join raidgroups. Basically flashpoints for more people.
Here you can defeat hard bosses who drop shiny gear.

This will be the end of my first post. Hopefully I gave you a good idea of what SWTOR is. In my following posts we'll take a closer look at each of these topics.
